Statement
My work is an ongoing conversation of images reflecting my passion for history, nature, and my concerns with technology and systems of belief. The excess of information, ambiguity, the pace of change, and the clash of truth versus belief occupy my thoughts. The only problems I know I can solve are the visual ones I set for myself, resulting in my paintings.
I work in acrylic on wood panels, with glazes and washes of color to build up a saturated, visually textural surface. Variations in color, tiny striations, spaces on the surface, and how paint settles and dries creates organic patterning. I cut in with liner that lead to loose, symbolic narratives. The subject matter often relates to technology and machinery versus nature and history.
